Mevagissey is just one of the charming places near our campsite in Gorran Haven. This village is noted for its distinctive ‘twin-harbour’ which welcomes back fishing boats after they’ve caught their daily catch.
In many ways, Mevagissey is a quintessential Cornish village with picturesque pubs, galleries and shops clustered around its beautiful streets. It’s named after two Irish saints: St Meva and St Issey, and its history dates back to the early 14th century.
During the Victorian age Mevagissey prospered due to a strong industry built on pilchard fishing.
